Students at Bryan Made Black History Month Come to Life
Posted on 03/28/2016
Every February is Black History Month in the United States, a chance to look back on the myriad of contributions made by one ingredient of the melting pot of backgrounds and cultures that this country is known to be. Without one ingredient, the rest of the recipe for a successful nation just isn’t the same. Heaven Loggins, from Bryan Middle School, wanted to help spread awareness of the positive effect African-Americans have made on the United States, and did so throughout the month of February at her school.

Student and staff brought in 76 brand new toys for tots this year, raised about $2500 for heart disease research and thanks to our candy cane sales, the St. Charles Co. Police Dept, Bryan Student Council, PTO and generous donations from several teachers, we were able to furnish seven adopted families with gifts this year.
Students Support the USO

Occupational Therapist Michele Meyer, Speech Therapist Kathy Luster, and Paraprofessional John Andrews supervise as a group of Bryan Middle students participate in a candy sorting activity after Halloween to practice employability skills. The students were eager to get the donated Halloween candy ready to send off to the USO for our troops. Lorri Richardson, 8th grade U.S. History teacher, organized this charitable event that called upon Bryan Middle students to donate their left over candy from Halloween. Students opened their candy bags and poured out a whopping 340 pounds of candy to "treat" our members of the armed forces. The names of the students involved are: Mitch Murry, Matthew Pew, Abby Ryan, Tim Sharp and Maggie Ward.
