Physical Education Guidelines
The policies and procedures of Bryan Middle School have been designed with the student’s health, safety, and hygiene as our number one concerns. All students are expected to wear the district approved PE uniform daily.
Illness and Injury
All doctor’s notes must be taken to the school nurse at the beginning of the day. The school nurse will notify the P.E. department if a student is excused. A “doctor’s note” will excuse a student from participating. A “parent note” will excuse a student from participating in vigorous activity for a maximum of 3 days. The “Wellness Program” is a healthful alternative in most cases. Please inform the school nurse and the PE staff of any conditions that may affect your child’s ability to be physically active and participate in class.
Each student is issued a locker and lock for Physical Education class. The cost of a replacement lock is $5.00.
The student is responsible for “locking up” all personal items in their assigned locker. Lockers and clothing are not to be shared. A small zip lock bag may be helpful for jewelry. Jewelry and gum are not permitted during class time!!
Any lost item should be reported immediately to the teacher. No aerosol, spray, or food items are permitted in the locker rooms.
Students are expected to arrive to class on time. Six minutes at the beginning and end of class are set aside for changing clothes. Tardies will be given to students who arrive after the tardy bell and to those who are not in their squad when teacher takes attendance.
Student safety is extremely important; therefore horseplay will not be tolerated in the gym or locker room.
Clothing & Supplies
The required P.E. uniform is a gray T-shirt and black short with a white name-block that have the school P.E. logo. The shirts are $4.00 and shorts are $6.00, a total of $10.00. You may pay with cash or check made payable to MEB Middle School. Please add your driver’s license number to your check.
Athletic shoes and socks are required for participation. Shoes must be tied properly during class.
Uniforms will be sent home on Friday to be washed and returned on Monday for class. Students will be provided clothing if their uniform is forgotten. However, a detention will be issued after 4 rentals.
